5 Questions with Irish Landmark Trust

This month, we’re pleased to introduce you to our friends at the Irish Landmark Trust. Operating across the Island of Ireland, the Irish Landmark Trust follows a similar preservation stewardship model to ours, offering over 30 beautifully preserved historic properties for your next international vacation. It’s definitely worth the trip!

Irish Landmark Trust Communications Manager Suzanne Cantwell answered a few questions to help us get to know the good work the organization does and introduce their amazing properties.

Can you tell us a little about your organization?

Irish Landmark Trust was established in 1992. Our mission is to save, share, and sustain built heritage across the Island of Ireland, North and South. Over the course of 30 years we have rescued over 40 buildings that were at risk and made them available to the public as self-catering holiday accommodation.

What kinds of properties do you have?

Currently we have 33 properties available to book for a short stay. Properties sleep from 2- 12 guests and vary from lighthouses and gatelodges to country houses and schoolhouses. They are a quirky collection of hidden gems that each offer their own special experience and charm.

Who books your properties?

We get a variety of guests from Ireland, the UK, USA, Europe, and further afield. We have properties to suit romantic breaks, city breaks, family holidays, multi-generational trips and get togethers with groups of friends. We get a lot of repeat guests and people who book the same property year after year. Some of our properties are pet friendly so the pooch can travel too!

Why do they book your properties?

People book with us because they value the work that we do. They tell us that they love the experience and the feeling of 'doing good' and 'feeling good.' They love the locations of the properties and how their stay allows them to connect with each other and with nature. They love our house managers and the warm welcome they get on arrival. Most of all they appreciate the comfort and warmth and character of the buildings themselves and how staying in them, they can become part of the social history of the building.

How can people book with you?

You can book directly on the website www.irishlandmark.com.
