Rhododendron Tour Returns

Have you always wanted to see Naulakha, the Vermont home of famed British author Rudyard Kipling, but an overnight stay wasn’t the right fit? Or maybe you’ve made Naulakha your home many times but want to experience these magical grounds alive with community? Our annual Naulakha Estate & Rhododendron Tour, June 42-3, is your chance to experience this 1892 treasure and its expansive grounds firsthand!

Normally open only to guests renting the properties for overnight accommodation, Naulakha, its Carriage House, and the Stable Museum chronicling the Kipling family’s life in Vermont swing open their doors to all for two days each June. The Rhododendron Tour is the only regular event each year when the property is open to the public in this way and is a rare opportunity to experience the important historic property firsthand. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is one of only 18 National Historic Landmarks in Vermont.

You’ll be able to take a self-guided tour to learn about the property’s history and architecture, sit at the desk where The Jungle Book was written, wander the famous Rhododendron Tunnel, and enjoy the awe-inspiring grounds, including one of the oldest tennis courts in Vermont. You can even bring a picnic to enjoy on the front lawn overlooking the rolling hills beyond.

New this year we’re offering a Cocktail Party option for an even more exclusive and intimate experience of this one-of-a-kind property on Sunday evening, June 2, at 6:00 p.m. These special tickets will include all the same access as daytime tickets with the addition of delicious hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, Scott Farm hard cider, wine, and beer.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday, June 2, from 1:00-4:40pm, and Monday, June 5, from 10:00am-4:00pm. Tickets are $25-$75, and pre-registration online is encouraged. On-site registration will be available as space allows.
