Naulakha Campaign launches

It’s an incredibly exciting time at Landmark, as we embark on a campaign as historic as our properties! Rudyard Kipling’s Naulakha, our National Historic Landmark flagship property, needs our help to stay secure in the face of a changing climate. Through our Naulakha Campaign, we are raising $1.25 million to preserve Naulakha’s history, protect it from the impacts of increased rainfall, and enhance your experience of this very special place. But we can’t do it without your help!

The Naulakha Campaign consists of 3 parts:

  • An in-kind roof replacement of the aging cedar shingle roofs at Naulakha, the Ice House (next to Kipling’s Carriage House), and the Gazebo (what the Kiplings called their “Summer House,” now next to the tennis court) to ensure the buildings are protected from the elements

  • A newly designed and installed drainage solution for the estate capable of managing the ever increasing rainfall and other impacts of climate change, which are currently causing damage to the tennis court and driveway, saturating the landscape, and threatening the buildings

  • The rehabilitation of the Naulakha Stable into a new 1 bed overnight rental, our first new Landmark in over a decade, and an exciting new opportunity for guests to enjoy the unique experience of being immersed in history at this magical place

We have been fortunate to receive over $481,000 in grants to support these projects, including a large grant from the National Park Service’s Save America’s Treasures program. Lead donors have also contributed an incredible $542,000, but we still have over $225,000 left to raise. This is where you come in! Your gift today in any amount will help save one of the most important historic sites in America, while providing new opportunities for people to be touched by its special charm. Together we can ensure Naulakha always tells a story for the ages!
