We held our inaugural Snow Golf challenge in 2023 on a beautiful snowy day and had so much fun, we’ve made it an annual event! Snow or no snow, seasoned golfer or novice, we always have a great time for a good cause. Once again we’ll be partnering with the Brattleboro Country Club on the design and layout of our challenges and feature our popular Scott Farm pop up bar. The unique unique “kid-driven” food cart from Newton’s Curveball Concessions will return as well offering their hot dogs, soup, chili, and baked beans, with all proceeds supporting the Dummerston community! There will plenty of reasons to make an afternoon of it and bring your friends and family! Just scroll to the bottom of the page and pick your tee time to register.
What’s new for 2026?
We have a new raffle with incredible golf prizes from an anonymous donor. Three separate raffles offer chances to win rare Masters and Ryder Cup swag, normally only available to attendees of the tournaments. Enter below or purchase raffle tickets in person at Snow Golf. Available to you; you don’t need to golf to enter!
While we can’t control the weather, we’ll do our best to make sure there’s snow for you. Inspired by one of our 2024 players, we’ll do our level best to provide small buckets of snow so even if Mother Nature gives us a sunny Spring day, you can still enjoy teeing off on snow!
While only registered players will be able to golf, everyone is invited to come watch, enjoy food and drink, and enter the raffle!
We’ll be returning to a system of tallying scores after the event and will reach out to everyone the week after to distribute your prizes.
What is Snow Golf, and what does Rudyard Kipling have to do with it?
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to hit a golf ball in the snow? Snow Golf is just like regular golf but even more fun…because it’s in the snow! Our event is designed to be a fun challenge for anyone who wants a unique way to stay active in the depths of Winter as well as seasoned golfers wanting to practice their game in the off season.
Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book and many other classics, had a ball playing Snow Golf. According to the U.S. Golf Association and historical accounts, Kipling invented the game right here in Vermont at his Dummerston home - Naulakha - following his introduction to golf by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle of Sherlock Holmes fame. As stewards of Naulakha, we’re excited to continue the tradition right where it was born with our fun wintery fundraiser. Read the whimsical story of Kipling’s invention of the game here.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, we are excited to offer three separate prize packs of amazing rare swag from the 2025 Masters and Ryder Cup that you can usually only get at the Masters or Ryder Cup. The Masters Golfer’s Package contains a Masters hat, set of four Masters ball markers, and six 2025 Masters golf balls. The Masters Lifestyle Package includes a Masters coffee mug and set of two Masters playing card decks. The Ryder Cup Ball Marker includes a 2025 Ryder Cup duo ball marker. Entries are $10 each and will be sold online through 8am on February 23 as well as in person at Snow Golf. Anyone can enter, and you do not need to participate in Snow Golf to purchase raffle tickets. The link below will allow you to purchase tickets for any or all of the three raffles. Enter today for your chance to win!

Each tee time has up to four slots available. Sign up as an individual or as a team of four. Team scoring will be based on the Best Ball format. Space is limited, so advance registration is strongly suggested. Registration may be available on site but is not guaranteed. Mulligans (do-over shots) and throws (bypass the club altogether and just throw the ball) are available to purchase with registration or at the door. Light complimentary snacks and drinks will be available in our warming hut courtesy of OWL Energy Bars, Mocha Joe’s Coffee, Scott Farm Orchard, and Leader Distribution Systems. Newtown’s Curveball Concessions will have delicious hot food for purchase, and Scott Farm will provide an exclusive cocktail as well as hard and sweet cider for purchase. Snow Golf will take place rain, shine, snow, or no snow, but we promise it will be fun no matter the weather! Cancellation and refunds will be at the discretion of The Landmark Trust USA and only in the event of dangerous conditions.

Most importantly, you’ll get an unforgettable afternoon of fun in the snow for a great cause. All players will also receive one free exclusive drink from the cozy Scott Farm pop up bar (additional drinks available for purchase). And you can help yourself to the water, seltzer, Mocha Joe’s coffee, tea, hot chocolate, Scott Farm apples, and OWL Energy Bars in our warming hut as well. You’ll also walk away with your choice of a souvenir tee set, golf towel, or bag tag to show off to your friends that you played golf in the snow!

Each challenge will be scored with prizes awarded for the best individual score at each challenge, best individual overall score, and best team score. Grand prize is a 2 night stay at our newly rehabilitated Naulakha Stable in Dummerston, VT. Bonus prizes will also be awarded for “most honest” (highest score), best dressed (team and individual), youngest player (children only), and longest distance traveled. Team scores will be based on the Best Ball format. In the event of any ties, a random drawing will be held to determine the winner. The same individual cannot win best individual and best team (in such a situation, best individual score will take precedence). Scores will be tallied and prizes distributed following the event.

Players are asked to bring your own clubs if you have them. No more than 2-3 are recommended. Loaner clubs will be available to anyone who needs them. Golf balls and all other equipment will be provided. Kipling is said to have played in rubber boots, red knee-high socks, green knickers, and a green and red plaid golf cap. Creative attire is encouraged, and prizes will be awarded for best dressed (team and individual)!
All proceeds support the historic preservation work of The Landmark Trust USA, helping us maintain these beautiful historic properties, produce place-based educational programs, and save additional historic buildings.
