Support Scott Farm’s Jamaican harvest crew impacted by Hurricane Melissa
In a time of year that is typically filled with celebration for the success of a completed harvest, we find ourselves utterly heartbroken by the catastrophic devastation that our Scott Farm harvest crew's homeland of Jamaica has just suffered from Hurricane Melissa. Their towns, communities, and homes are either destroyed or completely gone. It is unimaginable the grief and overwhelming despair that surrounds this life-changing event that has so deeply impacted our beloved crew and all they hold dear.
Our small crew of eight is the heart and soul of our farm. Without their tireless effort and immense hard work, we would not be able to successfully harvest and pack the fruit we grow. In essence, they are the glue that keeps Scott Farm in operation. They are golden human beings who radiate positivity, kindness, and humor with a work ethic that cannot be rivaled. Every single one of them - Fredson Brissett (from Trelawney, Jamaica), Michael Johnson (St. Elizabeth), Wevon Welcome (Trelawnley), Garfield Marrett (Trelawney), Garth Johnson (St. Elizabeth), Leonard Cooper (St. Elizabeth), Ryan Hutchinson (St. Thomas), and Kamoil King (St. Catherine), have sustained damage to their homes and farms.
We have launched an emergency fundraiser to support these wonderful men as they navigate their unimaginable road to recovery. Any amount you can give will benefit these extraordinary human beings who have dedicated so much to us and helped feed our communities for decades. It is one small way we can give back.
